It’s been quite a while since the last blog post. Remember those heady days when the only Corona we were familiar with was served (and sometimes over-served) with a slice of lime? That was back when we all thought our jobs were essential, too.
Not to fear. We’ll get past this and eventually the memories of these last few weeks will fade. For now, let’s concentrate on some positive things.
I spoke with a Harlequin RIP user the other day who was looking for some very specific functionality. What he needed to do was unique to his production and he just didn’t know if the RIP could handle it. Rather than make assumptions regarding something he didn’t know, he contacted me through our website.
After he explained what he was looking for, I asked him to email a few representative PDFs and we scheduled a Team Viewer session so that we could evaluate the problems together. To make a short story even shorter, everything he was looking for was available in Xitron’s Navigator Workflow. Unfortunately, he didn’t know about the workflow when he bought the RIP from a dealer . . .so the tools he needed had been available and he was completely unaware.
In a quick and economical fashion, we were able to license the functionality he needed and then schedule a remote installation and training session to get him into production. The point is, sometimes we just don’t know what we don’t know. Taking a few extra minutes before making a purchase and asking questions specific to your situation is always better than assuming, or trying to figure it out on your own. The same goes for upgrading an existing RIP. You might think that all you need to do to improve production is get the latest version of what you already have. Sometimes that’s true, but wouldn’t it be better to spend a few moments with a “wish list” and see?
